Shannon Garretson

Shannon GarretsonDEPARTMENT CHAIR  Shannon Garretson is CTA’s Education Director and a Registered Drama Therapist. She teaches creative drama and 1st grade acting, directs at least two CTA shows a year, and supervises the other CTA shows. She loves being on stage, and is excited to direct on the MainStage for the first time in the 2015-16 Season with Neil Simon’s comedy, Laughter on the 23rd Floor.

Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Psychology from Kansas Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in Theatre with a concentration in Drama Therapy from Kansas State University.

Stacy Jagodzinske

Stacy JagodzinskeStacy Jagodzinske enjoys teaching music and drama, and has directed both children and adult productions. In addition to teaching at CTA, Stacy is involved in activities at Salina’s First United Methodist Church.

When not occupied by teaching or volunteering, Stacy enjoys spending time with her beautiful three daughters and wonderful husband.

Keenan Ramos

Keenan RamosKeenan M. Ramos is a four-year veteran teacher of CTA acting classes. He is a freelance actor who most recently was seen in SCT’s Clybourne Park and Shrek: The Musical. He has performed in A Christmas Carol: The Musical at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Teddy Roosevelt and the Treasure of Ursa Major, a Kennedy Center Theatre for Young Audiences Tour, and The Last Black Play, which premiered at The Kennedy Center in 2005. Keenan has been seen many times onstage at The Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City.

Keenan also works as a Para educator at Oakdale Elementary School, and is completing his degree at Kansas State University. The role he likes most is being “dad” to his four-year-old Sloane Jillian.

Lindsey Rojas

Lindsey RojasLindsey Rojas studied Speech and Theatre Education at Kansas Wesleyan University, where she recently appeared in their production of Proof. Her theater experience includes performances with Children’s Summer Theater Academy, Ellsworth High School, Salina Community Theatre, Barton Community College, and the improvisational group Almost Actors. Lindsey is passing on her love of theatre to her own daughter, who has been a student here at CTA.

DEPARTMENT CO-CHAIR  Sam Shirack has been instilling her love of the arts in her dance students over the past 13 years, and is currently the director of the Iron Street Dance Company here at CTA.

Sam began her training at Peggy Simms School of Dance, where she worked with many choreographers in a variety of styles. She studied there for 15 years, and was a member of the Peggy Simms Show Troupe. Her work has received various choreography awards, a Music Theatre of Wichita Jester Award, and an NCA Top Coaching Award.

Away from SCT, Sam is the Kansas Dental Coordinator for Sterling Dental of North America. She lives in Manhattan with her soon-to-be husband, Ron, and their spoiled Goldendoodle, Cain.

Vickee Spicer

Vickee Spicer

DEPARTMENT CO-CHAIR  Vickee Spicer teaches Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Tap for CTA, teaching both children and adults. She also works with Iron Street Dance Company.

Vickee began dancing formally at age 11 in Sacramento, California with LaVerne Krei at the Carmichael School of Performing Arts, and later with Sacramento Ballet, Barbra Briggs Dance Studio, and Capitol City Ballet. Her training includes Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Partnering, and Musical Theatre.

At 15, Vickee began teaching dance, and later became the lead teacher at The Broadway Dance Academy in Sacramento, where she was also resident choreographer for three dance companies. Her students have performed on Broadway, in national tours and industrials, in Las Vegas, on cruise lines and in theme parks, as well as in commercials, film, and television.

Professionally, Vickee appeared in 23 musicals at Sacramento Music Circus, and performed in plays and musicals in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California. She has choreographed over 60 musicals, industrial shows, reviews, pageants, and commercials.

Vickee is the Director of Marketing for Saint Francis Community Services, and continues to enjoy choreographing, directing, and performing whenever she gets the chance.

Megan Coberly

Megan CoberlyMegan Coberly has extensive experience in musical theatre and dance. She attended Peggy Simms School of Dance where she studied Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, then moved on to Friends University where she studied Ballet under Sharon Rogers and Music Theatre Dance under Diane Gans.

She began choreographing musicals while in high school, and in college was awarded a Music Theatre of Wichita Jester Award for Outstanding Choreography. Since 2013, CTA’s Stage II musicals have been choreographed by Megan.

While studying for her degree in Elementary Education at Friends University, Megan was twice named the “Teacher of Promise” by the Kansas Board of Regents. After teaching three years in Topeka, she is excited to begin her job at Schilling Elementary teaching 3rd grade this year.

Katelyn Komarek

Katelyn KomarekKatelyn (Kati) Komarek teaches Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for 3-4 graders. Kati’s been dancing since she was four years old, and has been seen on stage in SCT’s production of Footloose, as well as CTA productions Listen, Linked, Impact, and CenterStage recitals. She’s performed with the Peggy Simms Show Troupe on cruise ships headed to Hawaii, and is two-time champion of SCT’s yearly fundraiser, Dancing With Salina Stars.

Kati is a licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician, and owns Studio K Spa in downtown Salina.

Cathie Norris

Cathie NorrisCathie is in her second year of teaching dance classes at CTA, where she also assists with Triple Threat Theatre camps. In addition, you’ll often find Cathie in MainStage productions at SCT. Her dance training came from Della’s Dance Studio here in Salina, and when Della’s closed she took a long break from dance. It became a very big part of her life once again when she started participating at the Theatre.

Cathie is a full time hairdresser at Allure Downtown Salon & Spa. Her motto? ‘OK, LET’S DANCE!’

Julie Schott

Julie SchottJulie teaches Advanced Ballet and Pointe for CTA. She has studied a variety of dance techniques, but her first love has always been Ballet. Her formal studies began in California at San Pedro City Ballet and later at Lauridson Ballet Center, and she has participated in many dance intensive programs including: Boston Ballet Dance Lab, Kansas City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and Debbie Allen Dance Academy.

In 2011, Julie completed her Bachelor’s degree with minor in dance from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and was hired as Dance Specialty Director for Pali Overnight Adventures.

Julie moved to Kansas in 2012. When not at the Theatre, she works for the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland and plays video games with her fiancé, Aaron Schopper.

Jill French

Jill FrenchDEPARTMENT CHAIR

Jill French teaches 7th and 8th grade vocal for CTA. She has performed in many professional theatre shows spanning from Kansas to Ohio to Georgia, has worked professionally with Mad River Theatre Works, and has appeared in many productions at SCT.

Jill graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Music. While at FHSU, she gained experience in opera, as well as classical and contemporary musical theatre, and was involved in both Concert Choir and The Fort Hays Singers when they traveled to Italy to perform Mozart’s Requiem and to Ireland to perform in world-renowned cathedrals and churches.

Jill is Director of Patron Services and Volunteer Coordinator for SCT. She lives in Salina with her husband Ross, their daughter Larkin Rose, and a feisty kitty cat named Spaz.

Darrel DeesDarrel Dees teaches 2nd and 3rd grade vocal at CTA. After more than 30 years as a public school music teacher, he’s recent been involved with local productions of Godspell, Quilters, Kiss Me Kate, and A Christmas Carol. Darrel is also a choir member and occasional choir director at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina.

Darrel and his wife Tammy have two children and two grandchildren (so far!).
